Tara Dhatu Children’s Program

Prema has developed a program for children that is playful and educational. Teaching spirituality to children requires specialized skills. Using some of the legends of Tibetan Buddhist practice, children are led into an exploration of the mind and how to work with their emotional impulses.

Study materials include:

1. DVD: Tara Tames the 8 Fears: Children Point the Way to Emotional Health

How do you deal with the Fire of Anger? How do you handle the Snake of Jealousy? In this DVD children dance, sing and dialogue their way through a Tibetan Classic that dramatizes eight emotional challenges including the Demon of Doubt and the Ocean of Desire.

Filmed during a one week residency, Prema guides the children and staff of Mountain Road School at the Abode of the Message in New York State in the dance drama, “Tara Tames the 8 Fears.”  The images are cuteness itself as children from the ages of 3-11 candidly talk about their feelings and learn the simple movements. We also hear from the parents and teachers who immediately noted the influence of the dance in their family interactions.

2. Wind Horses CD and Songbook/Coloring Book
Children’s Dharma Songs, Stories, Dances

This  collection of songs is based on Tibetan Buddhist teachings and legends designed to help children learn important values in a fun and playful way. Featured is the Dance Drama “Tara Tames the 8 Fears”.

An insightful introduction helps parents and teachers to discuss the material with their children. The music is arranged by Anahata Iradah, and is sure to delight the children and their adult guides.
