Workshop & Dance for Anam Thubten in CA: March 7-8

Invoking the Inner Fire with Prema Dasara

 March 7-8, 2020

Point Richmond, CA

We are honored to make another sacred dance offering to the Venerable Anam Thubten Rimpoche and his Sangha at The Dharmata Dakini Temple in Point Richmond, California.

Under the guidance of Prema Dasara, we will gather at the Body Wisdom Movement Studio in Point Richmond on Saturday and Sunday to prepare these profound practices for our Offering at the Temple at 3:00 PM on Sunday March 8, 2020.

The Saturday and Sunday sessions are open to women, men and teens.  Our focus will be Red Tara, the Goddess of Magnetism and Vitality.  We will offer Calling Tara from the Heart and the Mandala Offering to Red Tara at the Dharmata Temple.

Anam Thubten is a beloved Tibetan Buddhist teacher. Trained in the Nyingma tradition from an early age, he has been teaching in the West for 30 years.  He speaks excellent English and is known for his ability to make the Buddha Dharma accessible and relevant to Western minds. He was deeply touched by the dance offerings we have made in the past and asked that we return to his center.

Prema Dasara is the founder of Tara Dhatu and the creator of the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Green Tara. Using the vehicles of sacred song and dance, Prema has traveled throughout the world in dedicated service to humanity. Her purpose has been to inspire and uplift, inviting everyone to experience the power of their own human potential through sacred music and dance.

No indoor shoes required on the dance floor but all shoes must have flat soles. You are welcome to wear street shoes if they do not have sharp heels. The floor is a martial arts floor and very comfortable, if a bit sticky for turns. (There is additional new flooring in the studio this year adjacent to the main dance floor where we may need to remove our shoes to protect the surface.  We will not be dancing in this new area.)

Please bring your own water and snacks both days.  Bring lunch on Sunday if you will need more than a snack before the Offering.

For the Offeringthere are two Costume options

Red Base layer: Red flowing dress, or skirt with red blouse (no tee shirts please).  A red scarf will be available to wear over this base layer.  Be mindful of transparency of costume material and wear nude undergarments and/or slips to be appropriately modest in the Temple.

Gold Base layer: the Gold choli and circle skirt created for the Brazil Monlam in 2018. A red scarf will be available to wear over this base layer.
You are welcome to bring your own scarf instead of borrowing one if you have a red sarong size scarf (approx. 24” x 72”) .

If you do not already have the Gold Base layer, you may order it from Noelle Faulkner by February 20th at   Cost is $110 for the set, which will be delivered to you at the workshop in Point Richmond.
